Adopting Retread Tires
To reduce environmental impact, we are actively adopting retread tires. Retread tires are recycled with worn-out tread rubber removed and replaced with a new layer of rubber, allowing them to be reused. By using retread tires, we can conserve natural resources such as rubber and petroleum, which are required for manufacturing new tires. Additionally, reducing the disposal of used tires helps lower the environmental burdens associated with incineration and landfill waste, contributing to a more sustainable future.

Expanding the Recycling Business
Reducing Resource Waste!
Recycled plastics are used in various industries, minimizing resource waste and contributing to the realization of an environmentally friendly circular society.
Reducing CO2 Emissions!
By producing approximately 3,000 tons of recycled plastic materials annually, we also contribute to reducing CO2 emissions.

Utilizing Surplus Bread (Loss Bread)
At Hakone Bakery, we repurpose unsold yet edible “loss bread” to reduce environmental impact and contribute to society.

First,
we sell surplus bread through the online platform “Reebake,” allowing customers from distant locations to enjoy our products while actively contributing to food waste reduction.

Secondly,
any remaining loss bread is collected by the local farm “Kobuta Batake” and repurposed as feed for pigs, ensuring effective utilization of food waste.

Occasionally,
when there is a surplus of test products or unsellable bread, we donate them to the Hotoku Food Support Center, providing food assistance to children in need.

Supporting Children’s Cafeterias with Solar Power
The Hitachi Tohoku Super Hub Center (Shibata District, Miyagi Prefecture) operates entirely on solar energy, with surplus electricity donated to local children’s cafeterias under a contract lasting until 2026. By utilizing renewable energy, we actively reduce CO2 emissions while supporting local children through this initiative, contributing to the creation of a more sustainable society.
